At GLA we are pioneering a whole new type of service program. Meaningful service alongside local people and experiential learning about global issues by meeting leaders making a difference in their communities. Occasionally, the media takes notice and writes an article about GLA.

Pune, India
We believe that community service should connect to a country and its people. That's why we don't do manual labor projects, rather we focus on working alongside local people at grassroots organizations. Watch a video about GLA India
Santa Ana, Costa Rica
Beyond the pristine rain forests and windswept beaches, Costa Rica is also one of the most progressive countries in the region. Volunteer with local social service organizations working with children. You'll also have the chance to improve your Spanish! Watch a video about GLA Costa Rica
Fortaleza, Brazil
The northeast of Brazil has not received the benefits of this country's growing economy. Volunteer with after-school programs in poor communities, called favelas , teaching English, sports, arts and crafts, and most importantly, being a friend to at-risk children. Watch a video about GLA Brazil
Tema, Ghana
Immerse yourself in the heart and soul of West Africa. Ghana is rich with culture and history - meet tribal leaders, learn African percussion and engage in meaningful community service. Cape Town, South Africa
2009 will mark the country's 15-year anniversary transition from apartheid to democracy. Although racial segregation is no longer mandated by the government, its legacy exists. As a volunteer you‘ll be part of activities in schools, day care centers and orphanages that are transforming communities. Watch a short video about GLA Cape Town
Tecpan, Guatemala
